In 1901, the Koonibba Aboriginal Mission was established, however the Wirangu, Kokatha and Mirning people travelled through the area for thousands of years prior to the nearby ceremonial ground and traditional meeting place. Explore the township and visit the remaining heritage listed Church of Our Redeemer. Wander through the mission history display and listen to Dreaming stories at the Koonibba Rockhole and gain incredible insight into Koonibba’s history, heritage and cultural continuity through Aboriginal eyes.
