THE ENVIROMENT

The Far West Coast region covers more than 75000 square kilometres of remote South Australian country extending from the Western Australia border across the western edge of the Eyre Peninsula and from the Great Australian Bight, north to the Great Victoria Desert. The land is home to many culturally significant Aboriginal sites in coastal country, wooded coastal plain and dry inland salt lake, soak and sandhill country and is mostly dedicated to conservation, traditional Aboriginal peoples use and occupation.

Visitors to the region are encouraged to engage with Aboriginal culture through learning to live in harmony with the environment and embracing the philosophy of leaving country as it is found and respecting protected or restricted sites.
